THEATRE GAMES I (Ages 4-7)  50 minutes  

This class introduces the core skills of acting in a playful and engaging way. In our 50-minute weekly sessions, we learn how to warm up body and voice, we play structured games that foster listening skills, teamwork and confidence, and even work on short plays. Games touch on imagination, sense memory, character, improvisation, and stagecraft.  Great for shy kids! This class culminates with an appearance in the schoolwide show, giving kids a taste of what it's like to be on stage in front of an audience.

 

MUSICAL THEATRE GAMES (Ages 5-7) 50 minutes

This class will have students up and singing their hearts out in no time!  A great intro to musicality, we will touch on rhythm, expression and projection.  Students will sing songs together and play theatre games, all while learning the basics of musical theatre. This class culminates with an appearance in the schoolwide show, giving kids a taste of what it's like to be on stage in front of an audience.

 

DIGITAL CREATIVITY: LEGO-MATION, MOVIE TRAILERS & MORE (ages 5-8) 55 minutes

For our youngest aspiring auteurs, this class shows turns digital screens from passive viewing devices into a vehicle for creativity. They’ll do animation with legos, make their own movie trailers, fly on greenscreen, and more. Builds motor skills, relational awareness, and teamwork skills while letting imaginations run wild.

 

IMPROV I  (Ages 8 and up) 60 minutes

In these fast paced and fun 60 minute classes, we will jump into improv exercises that build imagination, communication and teamwork skills.  Students learn to listen, collaborate with their peers and create their own improvised scenes.  Great for building confidence and public speaking skills! Culminates in an improvised performance as part of the schoolwide show.

 

IMPROV/SKETCH COMEDY II  (Ages 10 and up)   75 minutes 

Building from Improv 1, this class continues to build imagination, communication, and teamwork skills. 75-minute sessions encourage kids to speak publicly and express themselves creatively with confidence. Through exercises and classic improv games, they learn to listen and collaborate with their peers, and let their imaginations soar.  This class also delves into sketch comedy, where the kids will utilize ideas developed in improv to write comedy scenes. Culminates in a performance as part of the schoolwide show.

 

FILMMAKING 1 75 minutes  (Ages 9 and up)

This class develops both performance and filmmaking skills. Using ipads, we learn basic visual storytelling skills, including how to compose shots, brainstorm stories, and work as a team to shoot scenes and edit them into short films. The kids will act in each other's films, and we’ll use these as an opportunity to explore the basics of on-camera acting. Taught by a working actor/ filmmaker, this class gives students a great taste of both disciplines and prepares them to create their own films. (includes location shoot day)

FILMMAKING 2 75 minutes  (Ages 10 and up by permission)

Building from Filmmaking 1, students in Filmmaking 2 delve more deeply into the craft of visual storytelling with more involved camera coverage exercises, exploration of lighting techniques, script development, FX and editing techniques and more. Filmmaking requires so many skill sets, including thinking strategically & creatively, working with teams, constructing stories, and organizing shoots. Students in this class are working towards becoming self-sufficient filmmakers, and will write, direct and edit their own films during this class. (includes location shoot day)

ACTING COMPANY 1 (Ages 8 and up)   60 minutes

This class gives young actors an opportunity to bring their acting skills to scripted material. Every child in this class will have a role in the ensemble production and will work on their scenes through the course of the class. They will learn every aspect of stage production and may play multiple roles as well as helping with sets, costumes and props, fostering a real sense of ownership of the work. Great for building confidence, responsibility, and team-building skills. Students are encouraged to attend our Open House as this will include an audition to determine casting/placement for the show and must commit to attending class regularly. 

ACTING COMPANY 2 (Ages 10 and up by permission)   2 hours  

This class takes the study of acting to the next level by incorporating principles of characterization, stagecraft and other basic acting skills into the production of a play.  Every child in this class will have a role in the ensemble production and must commit to attending class regularly  They will learn every aspect of stage production in the course of the class, and may play multiple roles as well as helping with sets, costumes and props, fostering a real sense of ownership of the work. Great for building confidence, responsibility, and team-building skills. Students are encouraged to attend our Open House as this will include an audition to determine casting/placement for the show.

This class explores the musical theatre genre in the most hands-on way through the rehearsal and production of a musical number. Kids will learn the ins and outs of vocal performance, including singing, "acting" the song, and choreography.  ​Every child in this class will have a role in the ensemble production and must commit to attending class regularly  They will learn various aspects of stage production in the course of the class, as well as helping with sets, costumes and props, fostering a real sense of ownership of the work. Great for building confidence, responsibility, and team-building skills. Students are encouraged to attend our Open House as this will include an audition to determine casting/placement for the show.

ADULT ACTING CLASS/WORKOUT  8-week class  (by interview/audition)

Whether you're a working pro looking to stay in shape or a newer actor just learning the ropes, this class will challenge you to do honest, personal work grounded in strong text analysis. This 3 hour class combines deep scene study with on-camera audition-style prepared reads, but will also include warmups, exercises, and other acting tools.  We work on scenes from great plays, screenplays and tv pilots in a wide range of genres, as well as tv/film projects currently casting, with the goal of preparing actors for both auditions and work in the film/tv biz.

located at 5917 N. Figueroa Street in Highland Park.
